We are honored that you are considering White Bear Montessori as a place for your child(ren) to learn, grow, and thrive. We have compiled all of the information you need to apply for enrollment as well as many blog posts about questions parents frequently have about our school or the Montessori philosophy. We encourage you to digest as much information as possible and then contact us to schedule a tour of a classroom in action.

The application process is a simple one. After reviewing the information offered on our web pages, contact us via e-mail or phone. Our Admissions & Programming Coordinator will be able to answer any questions you may have and help arrange a private tour. Once you have toured the school and your questions have been answered, an application form must be filled out and sent to the school with a $50 application fee (non-refundable, payable one time only per family).
If you’re looking for immediate placement, an appointment will be arranged for your child to visit with the Guide in the classroom to help determine the most appropriate classroom environment for him/her based on Montessori Philosophy and Pedagogy. Admission to the school occurs only after completion of all items required as specified in our Procedure for Admissions The appropriate tuition deposit and signed immunization form must also be received before admission.
WBMS is a non-profit, private school. Parent participation is expected and promoted through various fundraising activities and organized support efforts. While not all parents can participate due to family circumstances, the functioning of our school is dependent on parents to serve on task forces, committees, or the school board. Parent participation enriches us all, creating a learning community of students, parents, and guides.
WBMS will admit students of any race, color, national, and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities available to all students of the school. WBMS does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national/ethnic origin, or religious affiliation in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship awards, and other school-administered programs. No attempt is made to select students of special or outstanding ability.
WBMS is committed to an economically diverse student body and welcomes the opportunity to provide financial support where needed to help families send their children to our school. Approximately 10% of our total budget is dedicated to tuition assistance, which is funded by the school and supplemental grants from the Montessori community.
The online application process is secure and supported by our tuition service, SMART Tuition. After all applications have been received, SMART tuition provides an unbiased assessment of financial need. The WBMS Executive Board of Directors reviews recommendations, the applications, and special circumstances before making final decision. Returning families are notified of financial awards in the March/April time frame. After those awards are accepted, awards can then be made to new families for the following school year. Please contact us if you are applying for tuition assistance after May.
