Children's House (33 months - 6 years)

Enroll your child in a respectful, mixed-age environment that embraces each unique child.

In the Montessori method of education, children are given the opportunity to work in an environment prepared specifically for them using materials purposefully designed to meet their development needs and to facilitate maximum independent learning and exploration.

Children are free to choose work that the Guide has presented to them from the areas of practical life, sensorial, mathematics, and language, which encompasses the areas of culture, art, music, geography, and so on. It is a social environment in which children learn to cooperate, share, and help others.

The Children’s House community is comprised of children of mixed ages. Children between the ages of 33 months to 6 years all share the same environment, and each child has the same Guide for three to four years. In the mixed-age setting, the children learn from one another. Younger children get a preview of future work by watching the older children. Older children reinforce their knowledge by sharing it with younger children. All the children learn to work with others of different ages and abilities, to respect each other’s work and work space, and to treat each other with courtesy.

***Parents may choose either a half-day or full-day program in Children's House.  The half-day schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 11:30am.  Parents may choose a full-day program that suits your child, from 2 days up to 5 days per week. The full-day schedule is from 8:30am to 3:30pm.  Full-day students may also participate in Before and After Care in the Enrichment Center. You may choose to drop-in for either full-day or after care by using a drop-in form provided in the lobby. Drop-ins require a 24-hour notice.

quotesOur children have attended White Bear Montessori for the last 5 years. We feel the Montessori method supports learning in the best ways possible (self-motivated, mixed ages) and teachers are wonderful and engaged. The community of White Bear Montessori has always felt like an extended family to us.

The Connection
